Members of the project participate in an international conference at the University of Helsinki

Researchers Monique Miranda and Ana Larissa Oliveira, members of the Impolidez Digital project, participated in the Sixth Helsinki Conference on Emotions, Populism and Polarisation - HEPP6, held at the University of Helsinki, Finland.

At the conference, Ana Larissa Oliveira also served as a session chair/organizer and presented the paper Law, Linguistics and the Far Right: International Perspectives on Verbal Attacks on Vulnerable Groups, which discussed the relations between language, law, the far right, and verbal attacks against vulnerable groups.

Monique Miranda, in turn, presented the paper Racism, Misogyny, and Political Polarization in Brazilian Digital Political Discourse: The Case of Benedita da Silva, co-authored with Ana Larissa Oliveira. The presentation examined how racism, misogyny, and political polarization are articulated in practices of verbal aggression in Brazilian digital environments.

The researchers’ participation strengthens the international visibility of the Impolidez Digital project and expands dialogue with scholars from different countries dedicated to the study of emotions, populism, polarization, political communication, and contemporary forms of online verbal violence.
