Collaborator Presents Research on the Governance of Trans Bodies in Germany

Rieke Schröder, a collaborator on the Digital Impoliteness project, recently participated in the 8th European Geographies of Sexualities Conference, held in Maribor, Slovenia, where she presented research on the legal and discursive governance of trans bodies in Germany.
The presentation drew on the research underpinning her forthcoming chapter, “From Self-Determination to Sichtkontrolle: Leakiness, Law, and the Governance of Trans Bodies in Germany.” The chapter will appear in Law, Linguistics and the Far Right: International Perspectives on Verbal Attacks on Vulnerable Groups, edited by Tímea Drinóczi and Ana Larissa Oliveira and forthcoming from Routledge later in 2026.
